SDS Plus Bits vs. SDS Max Bits

There are two main categories of SDS bits – the SDS plus bits and the SDS max bits. In order to pick the right one for your project, you need to clearly understand the differences between the two.

SDS plus bits are utilised for making smaller holes because the bits are thinner. You can also identify them from their two open grooves and two that are closed. These grooves have balls that lock them together.

SDS max bits, on the other hand, are thicker and are reserved for making bigger holes. They have three grooves that are open and are joined by locking segments.

Uses of SDS Drill Bits

Once attached to the chuck of an SDS drill, an SDS masonry drill bit can be used to work not only with masonry but with similarly hard or heavy materials as well. In fact, if you are going to do some demolition work like tearing up an old driveway or breaking down walls, it would be a good idea to invest in an extensive SDS drill bit set.
